Software development for law firms and legal teams

Legal software built around how matters actually run. We automate the drafting, intake, disclosure and reporting work that eats fee earner time, connect it to your DMS and practice management system, and treat client confidentiality as an architecture requirement. Senior engineers own the architecture, AI coding agents carry the volume, and every line is reviewed by a human.

Key highlights

  • We build matter intake, document automation, client portals, legal hold and contract workflows for law firms, in house teams and legal tech vendors.
  • We integrate with iManage, NetDocuments, Clio, Intapp and Elite 3E so new tools work inside the systems lawyers already use.
  • Ethical walls, matter level permissions and full audit logs are part of the design, because confidentiality is a professional duty, not a feature.
  • Data residency, encryption and access controls are set to match client outside counsel guidelines and ISO 27001 style security questionnaires.
  • A focused first release, such as automated engagement letters or a client matter portal, usually ships in 6 to 10 weeks.

Industry challenges we solve

Most legal teams are not short of software. They are short of software that fits the matter, respects confidentiality and does not ask a fee earner to type the same client details five times.

The same details typed into every document. Client names, parties, dates and clauses are copied from the intake form into letters, agreements and court forms by hand, and every copy is a chance for an error that reaches the client.
Conflict checks and intake by email. New matter requests sit in inboxes while conflicts are searched across systems manually, and work starts before the engagement letter is signed.
Clients chasing updates by phone. Clients want to see status, documents and costs to date. Without a portal, partners and associates spend non billable hours answering the same questions.
Legal holds tracked in spreadsheets. Custodians, notices, acknowledgements and data sources are tracked by hand, so proving that a hold was issued and followed becomes difficult once a dispute escalates.
Contracts no one can find after signature. Executed agreements sit in email and shared drives. Renewal dates, obligations and non standard clauses are discovered when they are already a problem.
Security questionnaires that block new work. Corporate clients send detailed outside counsel guidelines and security questionnaires, and the firm's custom tools cannot evidence the controls being asked about.
Capabilities

Our legal software capabilities

We build the workflow and client facing layers around your DMS and practice management system, with confidentiality controls designed in.

Practice and matter management

Matter intake, conflict check workflows, engagement letters, task and deadline tracking and matter budgets, built as extensions to Clio, Intapp, Elite 3E or Aderant, or as focused standalone apps.

Document automation

Template driven drafting for engagement letters, agreements, court forms and bundles, with clause libraries, conditional logic and data pulled from the matter record, filed straight into iManage or NetDocuments.

E-discovery and legal hold

Custodian and data source tracking, hold notices with acknowledgement and reminders, collection logs and exports to review platforms such as Relativity, following the EDRM stages.

Secure client portals

Matter status, document exchange, e-signature, invoices and secure messaging for clients, with matter level permissions, MFA and full access logs.

Contract lifecycle management

Request, drafting, negotiation, approval, signature and obligation tracking, with metadata extraction and renewal alerts, built custom or integrated with DocuSign CLM or Ironclad.

Billing and legal ops analytics

LEDES e-billing and UTBMS task coding, matter profitability, WIP and realisation dashboards, and outside counsel spend reporting for in house teams.

How we deliver

From one workflow to the whole practice

  1. 01
    Workflow and risk review

We sit with fee earners, support staff and IT to map one workflow, the systems it touches and the confidentiality rules that apply. Output: a scope, an architecture and a security design.

  2. 02
    Automate one workflow

One high volume workflow, such as intake to engagement letter, built end to end and used by a pilot team on live matters.

  3. 03
    Connect the systems

The workflow is integrated with your DMS, practice management and billing systems so data is entered once and filed in the right matter.

  4. 04
    Extend and hand over

Further practice groups and workflows follow, and your knowledge or innovation team is trained to maintain templates and rules.

Compliance and security considerations

Lawyers owe their clients a duty of confidentiality, and clients increasingly audit how their firms protect data. We design software that helps you meet both.

SRA Standards and Regulations ABA Model Rule 1.6 confidentiality Legal professional privilege Ethical walls GDPR and UK GDPR ISO 27001 aligned controls Cyber Essentials expectations (UK) Legal hold defensibility

Confidentiality is enforced by the system. Matter level permissions, ethical walls and need to know access stop the wrong people seeing privileged material, and every view, download and share is logged. This supports SRA duties of confidentiality in England and Wales and the reasonable efforts expected under ABA Model Rule 1.6 in the US.

Client security requirements are evidenced. Encryption in transit and at rest, single sign on with MFA, data residency in the client's chosen region and documented access reviews are standard. We map controls to ISO 27001 so your answers to client security questionnaires are backed by the system.

Holds and disclosures are defensible. Legal hold notices, acknowledgements, reminders and releases are recorded with timestamps, so the firm or legal department can show what was preserved, by whom and when, if the process is challenged.

Tech stack we use for legal

Secure, well supported technology that fits into the Microsoft centric environment most firms run, with adapters for the legal platforms you already license.

FAQ

Common questions

Yes. We use their supported APIs to file documents, read matter data and respect existing security, so new tools work inside the DMS and practice management system your lawyers already use instead of creating another place to look.
By enforcing access in the system, not by policy alone. Matter level permissions, ethical walls, encryption, SSO with MFA and full audit logs are standard. Data stays in your own tenant or cloud region, and our engineers work under NDA with least privilege access.
Buy if your templates are standard and a mainstream tool fits. Build or extend when templates depend on complex matter data, several systems, or practice specific logic the tool cannot express. We often integrate a product and build the data connections and edge cases around it.
Yes. We build hold workflows that record custodians, data sources, notices, acknowledgements, reminders and releases with timestamps and user details. That gives your team a defensible record of what was preserved and when, which is what courts and opposing parties ask for.
Usually 6 to 10 weeks. That covers the workflow review, one automated workflow such as intake to engagement letter, and integration with your DMS or practice management system. Further workflows follow in phases.
You do. Every engagement includes full IP assignment and an NDA, the code lives in your repositories, and client and matter data stays in your own tenant or cloud environment.
