Software development for life sciences and pharma

Validated software that survives an inspection. We build lab, clinical, safety and supply chain systems for pharma, biotech and CROs with audit trails, electronic signatures and validation evidence designed in from the first sprint, not reconstructed before go live. Senior engineers own the architecture, AI coding agents carry the volume, and every line is reviewed by a human.

Key highlights

  • We build GxP software such as LIMS extensions, clinical trial apps, pharmacovigilance intake and serialization reporting, with Part 11 and Annex 11 controls built in.
  • Validation follows a risk based approach in line with GAMP 5 and FDA Computer Software Assurance, so testing effort goes where patient and data risk is highest.
  • Requirements, risk assessments, test evidence and traceability matrices are generated from the delivery pipeline rather than written by hand at the end.
  • We integrate with the systems you already validated, including LabWare, LabVantage, Veeva Vault, Argus Safety and SAP, instead of replacing them.
  • A focused first release, such as instrument data capture for one lab, usually ships in 10 to 14 weeks including validation documentation.

Industry challenges we solve

Life sciences teams rarely struggle to describe what the software should do. They struggle to get it built, validated and kept in a validated state without every change turning into a months long project.

Validation that costs more than the build. Every small change triggers a full regression of manual scripted tests and a stack of paper. Teams stop improving systems because re-validation is too painful.
Instrument data copied by hand. Results from chromatography systems, balances and plate readers are transcribed into the LIMS or a spreadsheet, creating exactly the data integrity gaps ALCOA+ is meant to prevent.
Audit trails that do not tell the story. The system logs that a record changed, but not who changed it, what the old value was or why. Inspectors notice, and the remediation becomes a 483 response.
Clinical data spread across vendors. EDC, ePRO, IRT, labs and the CTMS each hold part of the picture. Reconciling them for a data review or a database lock takes weeks of manual work.
Safety case intake by email. Adverse event reports arrive from call centres, literature, partners and social channels in different formats, and the clock for expedited reporting starts on the day of receipt.
Serialization data that does not reconcile. Packaging lines, the level 4 site server, the enterprise repository and trading partners disagree on what was commissioned and shipped, and exceptions pile up at the dock.
Capabilities

Our life sciences software capabilities

We build and extend GxP systems with the controls inspectors look for, and deliver the validation package alongside the code.

LIMS and lab data integration

Instrument interfaces, sample management workflows, stability study scheduling and ELN integration. Raw data is captured directly from instruments and chromatography data systems, so there is no transcription step to audit.

Clinical trial software

ePRO and eCOA apps, site and patient portals, randomisation and supply integrations, and data pipelines to CDISC SDTM and ADaM. Designed around ICH E6(R3) good clinical practice expectations.

Pharmacovigilance tooling

Adverse event intake from forms, email and call centres, duplicate detection, MedDRA coding support and ICH E2B(R3) case exchange with Argus, ARISg or your safety database.

Serialization and traceability

GS1 EPCIS 2.0 event processing, aggregation and exception handling for DSCSA in the US and EU FMD verification through the national systems, connected to packaging line and ERP data.

Quality management workflows

Deviations, CAPA, change control, training records and document control, with electronic signatures that meet Part 11 requirements for signature manifestation and record linking.

Validation as part of delivery

User requirements, risk assessments, IQ, OQ and PQ evidence and traceability matrices produced from the same pipeline that builds the software, so re-validation after a change takes days rather than months.

How we deliver

From intended use to validated release

  1. 01
    Intended use and risk assessment

We document what the system does, which GxP records it creates and where patient safety or data integrity risk sits. Output: a validation plan sized to that risk, not a template.

  2. 02
    Build with evidence

Requirements are traced to code and automated tests from the first sprint. Each build produces test evidence your QA team can review and approve.

  3. 03
    Qualify and release

Installation and operational qualification in your validated environment, user acceptance with your SMEs, and a validation summary report ready for QA sign off.

  4. 04
Keep it in a validated state

Change control, periodic review support and fast, risk based re-validation so the system can keep improving after go live.

Compliance and security considerations

In life sciences the question is not only whether the software works, but whether you can prove it works and that its records can be trusted. We plan for that from the first conversation.

FDA 21 CFR Part 11 EU GMP Annex 11 GAMP 5 risk based validation FDA Computer Software Assurance ALCOA+ data integrity ICH E6(R3) GCP ICH E2B(R3) DSCSA and EU FMD HIPAA and GDPR

Electronic records and signatures by design. Secure, time stamped audit trails capture who did what, when, the old and new values and the reason for change. Electronic signatures are linked to their records and show the signer, date and meaning, as Part 11 and Annex 11 expect.

Validation effort follows risk. We apply GAMP 5 categories and critical thinking in the spirit of FDA Computer Software Assurance: rigorous scripted testing for high risk functions, and lighter unscripted or automated assurance where risk is low. The rationale is documented for your QA team and inspectors.

Patient data stays protected. Clinical and safety systems that handle personal health information get HIPAA safeguards for US data and GDPR controls for EU and UK subjects, including pseudonymisation, access logging and data residency in your chosen region.

Tech stack we use for life sciences

Proven, supportable technology that your IT and QA teams can maintain, with integration adapters for the validated platforms you already run.

FAQ

Common questions

Yes. We build in the technical controls Part 11 and EU Annex 11 call for: unique user accounts, role based access, secure audit trails with reason for change, electronic signatures linked to records, and record retention and export. Compliance also depends on your procedures, so we deliver the documentation your QA team needs to approve the system.
You own validation and QA approval, and we produce most of the work. We write the validation plan, requirements, risk assessment, test scripts and executed evidence, and support IQ, OQ and PQ in your environment. Your QA team reviews and signs. This keeps accountability where regulators expect it.
CSA is a risk based way of doing computer system validation, not a replacement for it. Traditional CSV often applied heavy scripted testing to everything. FDA's Computer Software Assurance guidance encourages focusing documented testing on features that affect product quality or patient safety, and using lighter assurance elsewhere. We plan validation that way by default.
Yes. We extend and integrate rather than replace validated platforms such as LabWare, LabVantage, Veeva Vault and Oracle Argus, using their supported APIs and interfaces. That limits the re-validation scope to the new integration and the functions it touches.
Yes, on the software side. We build EPCIS event processing, aggregation and exception handling, trading partner data exchange for DSCSA, and verification and decommissioning flows for EU FMD, connected to your packaging line systems and ERP. We do not replace your certified line equipment.
You do. Every engagement includes full IP assignment and an NDA, the code and validation package live in your repositories and document systems, and data stays in your own cloud or on premise environment.
