The term gets thrown around loosely, so let us define it clearly.   • Ask about test coverage. AI native teams should be able to commit to specific coverage targets from the start of the project. If testing is an afterthought, the AI adoption is superficial.
  • Ask about their process. How do their developers interact with AI agents? Is it ad hoc, or is it built into their standard workflow? Do they have internal guidelines, prompt libraries, and quality gates specifically designed for AI augmented development?
  • Look at their delivery history. Companies that truly operate this way should have demonstrably faster delivery timelines and higher quality metrics than industry averages.
